Halifax, Nova Scotia is a coastal city – a Canadian indie music hub since the 1990’s, nestled among ragged shorelines of the Atlantic Ocean. From this home base, In-Flight Safety has been crafting thoughtful, melodic indie rock that’s made its way across North America and Europe. There’s been a lot of praise and accolades over the years, from television placements to awards, but the band still had growing to do. From The Coast is Clear (2006) to We Are an Empire, My Dear (2009).

Every Time I Die have never been an easy act to categorize and that’s one of the key reasons why the band’s fans have never turned their back on this innovative act’s unique brand of music. While the band started out in the late ’90s hardcore scene, over the past decade they’ve continued to evolve and push the boundaries of heavy music, a process that’s culminating with their sixth full-length Ex Lives. Recorded by Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age) Ex Lives sees the band—vocalist Keith Buckley, guitarists Jordan Buckley and Andy Williams, drummer Ryan Leger—coming together to create
the most forward-thinking album of their career.

The enigma. What does this mean? No one knows. Not even the band members.
"I'm an iguana. I'm gonna getcha?
They DO NOT play original songs. Nope. Not a one. But what we do is pack a dance floor wall-to-wall and play the best hip-gyrating, beer chugging, hair-flipping cover tunes today has to offer.

“After 45 minutes of the most intense singing and dancing and butt-touching of your life and you're in the middle, screaming, ‘We won't leave it all in our heads’ in a voice so wild and unabashed you normally wouldn't even let your shower hear it. It's the kind of fun where you turn to your friend in the middle of it and go ‘Is this real?!’ And it is,” as Neil Fridd, leader of frequent Aucoin tour/bandmates Terror Pigeon, puts it.

Séan McCann, widely known as a member of internationally renowned band, Great Big Sea, has spent the last 20 years sailing around the world enamouring audiences from Copenhagen to California. Known as much for his intense screaming sea shanties as his tender ballads, McCann decided it was time to leave the comfort of safer waters and set out on his own for a new shore. His new album, and third solo project, entitled Help Your Self was released digitally on January 29th, 2014.

Initially formed as the bedroom project of
singer / songwriter / guitarist Gavin Gardiner,Toronto-based
country-folk / indie rock collective the Wooden Sky have
grown
exponentially throughout the years -- both physically and
figuratively. Spanning three
records, several EPs, countless well-received tours, and dozens of
collaborators, the
group's development over the past decade can be used as a measuring
stick in the
Southern Ontario scene they've helped to curate and sustain. Their
reverence-turnedsubversion of accepted notions in Americana-based
music have made them tireless
innovators, consistently finding new wrinkles within a genre as
broad as it seems ageless.

The Walkervilles have figured out the recipe, you see. The recipe for making music that touches your soul, slaps it around a bit, caresses it, and leaves it wanting more in the best way. It’s no wonder that they are influenced by the genre of music that is aptly named the same: soul. Throw in heavy influences of Motown and Rock and what you’ve got is the unique ability to make a lover out of a fan.
